History of Photography
Having a interest in photography, I found this class exciting. Rarely do you think back to your favorite technologies invention, but boy do the times change. From a bulky body with an accordian style zoom and single frame capabilities to an application on your blackberry, 100 years has radically changed the camera and its abilities. I found George Eastman paticularly interesting as part of his success was due to his catchy advertising ideas. Founder of Kodak and father of the disposibal camera Eastman revolutionized the industry. For the first time the camera was affordable and easy for all consumers. Capitolizing on this he created the catchy slogan "You push the button....We do the rest." The real video clips were extremely interesting as well. Its amazing to see the first video images ever produced. Through the new visual artform artists incorporated nudity, something i thought was unheard of at the time. Sometimes beautiful others uneccesary it was almost like an obsession. To bad PBS didnt go into more detail.
